Day One COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Policies and Procedures

June 24, 2020

I pray you are all having a blessed June.  In order to honor transparent conversation, Day One has been asked by several parents to require that masks be worn by any adult in the school facility during the Harris County Mask Order timeline.

Although Gloria Dei believes that Day One is a missional opportunity and is not a commercial business, we believe those parents have good intentions as to voicing their concerns and we would like to honor these requests by notifying each family that moving forward, masks will be required to be worn by adults who enter the facility through the end of the order on June 30th.

We appreciate your compassion and flexibility as we  continue to focus on the health, safety, education and spiritual growth of the children, families and staff that God has placed around us.  I will end this communication with a verse being utilized by our staff this week.  Romans 15 vs. 2.  Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

March 16, 2020

Dear Day One Families,

You and your family remain on our prayers during this unique time. Day One continues to monitor the ever changing COVID-19 events. Our staff has been hard at work the past two days, sanitizing and disinfecting the entire program.  We realize that families are struggling with many issues concerning this pandemic, including childcare.  In order to relieve one stressor from our families, Day One will be offering childcare services beginning Wednesday, March 18th from the hours of 7am to 6pm

In order to ensure the safety and health of the children and our staff, we are following CDC guidelines as well as Texas Health and Human Services.  In order for your child(ren) to use these services the following requirements will be implemented immediately:

  1. Before being allowed to enter into the facility, each child and caregiver must be screened. Screening will include including taking the temperature and showing no signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection; such as a cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, and low grade fever.
  2. Have not traveled internationally within the previous 14 days.
  3. Have not had contact with anyone with a confirmed diagnosis or is under investigation for COVID-19 or is ill with a respiratory illness.
  4. Sign in and verify criteria has been met.

Drop off procedures are as follows:

  • There will be a limit of one caregiver to drop off/pick up each child to limit exposure within the facility. A screening table will be set up under the Porte Cochere for children and caregivers to be screened before entering the building.
  • Once screened and requirements are confirmed, the caregiver and child will enter into lobby area to sign in your child.

Pick up procedures are as follows:

  • DOCA outside doors will be locked.
  • Caregiver will be screened outside for CDC guidelines.
  • Upon confirmation of screening requirements, caregiver will then enter into lobby to register and pick up of child.
  • Caregiver will then proceed to pick up child from classroom.
  • Children will only be allowed to be picked up from front Lobby. (no playground pickup)

We will discontinue large gatherings of children, including Chapel and Parent chapel. We look forward to providing this vital service to our families as long as we are able and we thank for your cooperation and support.

Please pray for the end of this COVID-19 pandemic and relief from the current crisis.

May the Lord bless and keep each of you in His care and grace.

The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ.                                            Phillipians 4:6-7
